one year pictures

Sophie was due for some professional one year old pictures. With coupon in hand for some inexpensive prints, I took baby girl to target. My mom met me there. She made Sophies dress. It wasn't originally for her, I think it was made for my neice Ella for Mackenzies wedding. While she was making it, I remember loving it and plotting my evil scheme to take it over, should I ever have a girl. Little did I know, Sophie was chilling out on heaven waiting to come down and allow me to claim the dress.

Sophie was very cooperative for pictures. I felt like we got some good shots. It's amazing how much they change in a year.... She is so toothy and has so much hair now it blows me away.

I want a bath too!

4th of July

Here are 4th of july pictures FINALLY. In a rush to clean up the house I stuffed my camera in a cupboard and couldn't find it. The kiddos were outfitted by my sister Laurie. She made these outfits even though i never got measurements to her, even with all her gentle harassment. (Sorry Lar) Thanks you for making my kids so cute and patriotic.

So big

Sam's learning to write, this is his latest conquest. I love seeing his confidence in his abilities build. In his words.... "Mom, are you so proud of myself?"

c'mon stay with me

I suck at blogging lately... I'm not sure where my camera is.... I suck at keeping track of things also. Life goes on,
4th of July happened... it was good
Sophie has a new favorite flavor... her brother
what I meant by that is... she bites... hard
she also has learned other things to do with her mouth... give kisses
Sam has graduated from just saying things, he can write a few words... Mama, Sam, and hot
I have been preoccupied latley with counting... calories that is.
(losing weight is friggin hard)

So in the place of unwritten blogs, I hope to have lost poundage. With all the thoughts of protein, carbs and calories and with sweat possible seeping into my brain... I have no room at the moment for cleverness and sitting for too long supposedly makes your bum flat so I suppose that's why I havent uploaded any pictures. Goodnight for now...I'm going to bed with a growley tummy and I gotta get up at 5:30 for my twice weekly kick in the butt.

Salon BBQ

Steve and I hosted our first BBQ. We had all the salon girls and their families come. We had good food, all the kids had a blast playing and we played a mean game of woofle ball. Nicloe's husband Nate, hit the ball over the rence. Steve decided to save the day and jump over the fence to retrieve the ball, he got a nasty cut while he was at it. I suppose I am the resourceful spouse, or just less adventurous, I found an opening in the fence and came out victorious with the ball and without any battle wounds. I appreciate everyone who came. I'm lucky to work with such a fantastic group.

"keep your eye on the ball and swing early" sam was instructing everyone.

Kyra, Andrea's baby... not so much a baby anymore.

Sophie and her basketball, she loves that thing,

The Taylors try camping

At the last minute we decided to join Eric and Andrea's family (Steves oldest brother) on a camping adventure. We packed the car, borrowed a tent and were off to Flaming Gorge. It tooks us a good 3 hours. Sam slept a bit, played with his etch-a-sketch and we solved riddles. Steve and I commented off and on how awful it would would be to live in a mobile home on the side of the highway in the middle of nowhere... in Wyoming. Then as we got closer and closer, we saw,

This!! So gorgeous and so... flaming!

Sophie did this, for the last half hour or so

This was Sam's favorite part of camping

This is nature calling... oh to be a boy

This is cutie pie Malia

This is the face of satisfaction when the marshmallow toasts just right.

This is kids dance with glow sticks

This is right before bed, inside the tent, before all hell broke loose. Sophie would NOT settle down and go to sleep. It was honestly like having a colicky newborn.

This is where we ended up for the rest of the night, in a reclined position in the front seat of the car. It was so windy that night, and howling so loud. I kind of freaked myself out thinking of the zodiac killer... if something happened would anyone hear me? I'm a little dramatic at 4 in the morning. When we both finally settled down to sleep, morning came. Andrea was a saint and took our crazy baby on a jaunt with the rest of the kids and let steve and I sleep.
Other than those dreaded 8 hours we really had tons of fun. We camped by a creek, had pinapple upsidedown cake and s'mores. We didnt stay another night, but we will try again next year.
