4 days old

All about the girl

This is Stacy this time. Grandma Barbie has Sam, Sophie is sleeping and Stevie is mowing his mom's lawn. I have the whole house to myslef so I thought I would BLOG. So can't beleive we actually have 2 kids. It's not as life altering this time around and I feel like I actually have a clue what I am doing. ::relief:: Sophie is a great baby so far. she is just starting to be awake a little bit more than just for food. She has the most beautiful eyes I just can't help but look at them when they are open. She occasionally goes cross-eyed when she opens them too wide. I forgot about all the funny expressions newborns make. My favorite is the one eye squint while the mouth tries to find food. Too sweet.

For anyone interested (or for my own record) here is the birth story. I started having contractions Monday morning at about 1:30. The were consistant but honestly never really that bad but I wanted to go in anyway. We got there at about 5:30 and I was still only dialted 3 which was the same from my previous appointment a week earlier. My contractions seemed to become less regular when I got all hooked up I really thought they were going to send me home. Alas the doctor took pity me and let me stay. I got a little round of pitocin and man those contractions hit me like a ton of bricks. I got my epidural when I was at a 6 (we will come back to that) It only numbed half of me. Those contractions were horrendous... I'm not going to lie. The Dr came in and gave me another round of medicine which numbed every single ounce of feeling I had in my lower body. I was checked to see my progress and I had gone from a 6 to a 10 in 20 minutes.

The Dr was Paged.... about 4 pushes in about 4 minutes later Little Sophie was here!

She doesn't have the huge cranium Sam had nor was it mal-formed in any way. I don't mean to make such a big deal over the fact that this girl has hair but.... No one in my family is born with hair. The Edde Gene has always dominated with all of my sisters and their babies. Steve had the exact dark, straight, sticky-up hair that Sophie has. Her big eyes are Steve's also. She has already started to fatten up.... milk production is most definetly not a problem of mine. My usual size b's are now of playboy proportions. I am feeling pretty good at the moment... physical well and super hormonal but at least I know what to expect this time around. To put it in Steve's words from a conversation earlier today."life is good right now." I feel so blessed to have tow healthy kids and great support from Steve. I promise I will up load more pictures tonight. I can't get enough of this little girl and I get to see her all the time :)

Sophie comes home

We came home from the hospital this morning. Everything went really well and Sophie is perfectly healthy so far. Sam had some jaundice but Sophie has avoided that so all she needs to do before her 2 week checkup is fatten up. She is still sleeping all day and only wakes up to eat. So far she hasn't had much of a cry, but her lungs are getting stronger and her cry is getting louder and cuter. Sam is really proud of his sister; he tells everyone that he has a new baby sister Sophie and that he's going to teach her how to kill spiders. Anyway, she is adorable and hopefully she keeps that beautiful hair.

Pictures of Sophie

A few more pictures...

Sophie Jordyn Taylor

Mom & Sophie -------------- Sam looks like Andre the Giant-- Sam showing off his awesome ear

This is Steve--Sophie was born today at 12:17 P.M. She weighs 6 lbs 5 ounces and she is 18 inches. Boy, having a baby is easy, I could handle labor again tomorrow. Stacy and I came to the hospital at 5:30 this morning, so things went quickly, and the epideral worked it's magic. Sophie's dark, long hair is a surprise, but that is how I looked at first--hopefully things work out better for her. Anyway, we're very happy she's here.

Thankful and scared to bits

No pictures today, Just me trying to type around this belly of mine. (It has become quite cumbersome.) I am running out of Maternity clothes, Even my salon apron is working extra hard and the nylon material doesn't help out in the warmer weather department. I find myself taking it off as much as possible and now have a new magnent for color stains.... yup, the baby bump. As much as I am over being pregnant, and as much as I just want to meet this little girl (and dress her in pink) I am scared to death about having 2. Really, I don't get how it works. Sam is pretty great but he can be demanding of my time especially. I think as a mom, the quest of not do anything that will cause any future therapy bills for my offfspring in the future is always in the back of my mind. Now I will be responsible for 2.

I suppose if Heavenly Father intended mothers to never make mistakes, we would be parents in our 80's while we are wiser... full of life experience. One thing I know for sure is that No one can love these two like me.... How could that even be possible? Everyone that meets Sam, falls in love with him but his mama has got everybody beat. This baby is constantly jabbing my ribs, she makes my hips jump out of place and gives me heart burn, but I just can't even describe how I feel. I have never even met her and I just can't believe how much I already love her. I remember feeling the same about Sam. I am so thankful for this horribly uncomfortable, amazing experience of pregnancy. I am so thankful that I didn't have to find room in my heart for Sophie but that my heart just grew an extra spot for her.

New wheels

Sam got a big wheel! This for some reason has just bumped him up the big boy scale for me. The peddals are still a little bit far away for him but he does a good job of doing the "Barney Rubble" with his feet. We are loving this weather and spending some time outside.

Fishy tales

Say Hello to Otto!
He is the newest member in our house. Dad picked him up for the boy after a pet store visit. This seemed like the least offensive option for a pet. Steve and I are just not animal people. (Dog hair/drool/teeth/poop....gross.) I have thought of a pet fish in the past, but had always opted against it because of the early mortality of the things. I didn't want Sam to get attatched and then have to deal with death at such a young age. (a little dramatic perhaps)
Steve did a good job at explaining to Sammers that Fish die and when Otto dies we get to flush him down the Toilet! Sam thought for a moment about this idea and offered up his own..."Dad, When he dies, why we have to fwush him down da toyet? Can we dust eat him?"
Appetizing
Then yesterday, there was a lot of talk of Otto's recent behavior.... He has been acting a little nuts, Steve warned Sam that we might have to flush him soon. Last night at bedtime, Sam was expressing some concern about his fish, I just said,"It's okay if Otto dies because then he get's to go to fishy heaven. " Then Sam said, "Mom where is fishy heaven?.... is it in da toyet?"
Otto is the Orange goldfish, just ignore the plastic shark.
Me at 36 weeks

Some Mommy love.... he has been such a daddy's boy lately. This has included wanting to wear the same color clothes as dad and wearing basketball shorts to bed.

So my brain has officially turned to pregnancy mush. I have wanted to write some sort of an update, There is no cleverness in me at the moment.... but as life goes, it's going well. I am working a bit more than usual. I'd like to take as long of a maternity leave as possible. Steve has started a summer job with a landscape crew... he comes home smelling just like summertime. there is definetley something refreshing about the scent of grass clippings and gasoline. We just saw Iron Man and LOVED it. I was pleasantly surprised.
We are on the countdown now.... Please bless she doesn't come late. Oh and yeah for a little springtime!
