This little man of mine

Sam is such an unreal kid. He has just always had this goodness about him that I think will always be with him. He is so naturally obedient and can sense feelings and has such an intense desire to protect those he loves. (even if he is afraid of flies) I know he has never even considered telling a lie and always asks permission. We finally got over that he doesn't need to ask me if he can go potty. If he does have freak out moments it is generally because he is tired or hungry. I know he has his things that can be difficult but more and more I am realizing what a special little guy I have here...
Last night when I was putting him to bed and we were in our usual nose to nose snuggle, I was complimenting him about what a good boy he was all day for dad while I was at work and that I didn't think he could be mean or naughty if he tried. To which he said, "I'm Like Jesus huh."
So after a laughed a little and scooped up my heart that was in a warm puddle one the floor, I kissed him good night and realized what a lucky mama I am.

Seven years later

It's incredible how intesely you can love someone after seven years of marriage and seeing eachother through every important and meaningful thing in life. Mine and Steve's journey has not necessarily been typical and in fact we have been together for our entire adult lives. We have not accomplished anything really, without the other to thank and have not gone through failures without the other to help pick up the pieces. Our movements and moments seem to be in sync with eachother and, we have been able to keep our connection strong and have even been able to strenghthen our bond through our growing family. We have eachother figured out and can decode hidden emotions with a look or a vibe, which can really be good and bad. I am an open book as far as Steve is concerned and he can't get away with a "you look fine, can we go now?" I'm happy at home with him watching "30 rock" and still get a little rush when a kiss lands just right. I'm so thankful for the small and incredible moments I get day to day and I'm thankful for to be adored and admired by such a cute boy.  I know that I can nag a bit... he knows he deserves the nagging sometimes. I know I don't let him be mad even when he wants to be and that I always sneak his treat stash. But I am thankful and glad and looking forward to our next seven years... hopefully... our communication stays strong, our wallets get fatter, our bellies do not, and we get to go on the European trip we always talk about.
Just dating
My Jr. Prom. Steve took me back to his HS because my Prom was a week after he left on his Mission.
He's BACK! The mourning can stop (and the feeling guilty about kissing other boys)
Our first apartment. Our shower was so tiny, Steve couldn't even fit in it. He went to his parents to shower

Spring teaser

We took advantage of the fabulous weather today and spent some time playing outside. Sam got a new baseball toy that is a total blast. We all had fun Playing with it. Not Sophie I guess, she should maybe start walking first. But, she did say her First Word on Saturday... "no" and whenever you say "no, no" She shakes her head which alwyas makes us laugh, she is gonna think being naughty is funny and cute. Well it kind of is on a 10 month old

Easter!!

We too celebrated Easter this week. It was complete with 3 easter egg hunts, new church clothes, around 4 bucks in cash and way too much candy for a little 4 year old body. Well my 4 year old boy isn't the only one that can't get enough of Easter. The much older boy in this house insists on his own easter basket as well. I put my foot down on Steve participating in the hunt.
In search of the GRAND PRIZE egg.

Just realized that Lauren found it
Onto the next Egg!

Old Man

I have been seeing a little hand written reminder for the last week or so, every time I schedule an appointment in my planner,  in the April 3rd slot It reads, "SteveBorn"
 and so he was.
To celebrate such a blessed event we did nothing less than....
 Play basketball
Eat at Tucanos
Go to the Book store
That sums up my man in a nutshell. He played hookie from school and
we just had a really great and relaxing day. Happy 28th you son of a gun! scroll down for an ode to steve

Nice Form!!
We should maybe practice our self picture taking skills
The princess
Sam was loving the "Man Food" or so he calls meat
Sammy was a bit dissapointed that Dad didn't want to be birthday sung to.

Birthday poetry

Your a long legg-ed Daddy, with a short legg-ed wife
You add a little spice and some sugar in my life
You cannot dance a beat, and cannot sing a tune
But I didn't fall in love with your ability to croon

Micheal Jordan, JFK, Matilda, and Barack,
Will Ferrell, Noam Chomsky, in your eyes, they all Rock
Your nose is in a book, one that bores me to tears
But anything you do, Sam jumps up and cheers

Your my dish-washin', laundry doin', dinner eatin' guy
You love the Yanks and the Cougs (the latter sure do try)
I love you and your whiskers, as sparse as they may be
Well, to be fair you do have a pretty nice goatee

For your birthday this year, I would have loved to get you more
But I didn't think you'd like it if I robbed an ipod store
Instead you had to settle for some kisses and corn chex
and for a really special night of great and wild..... scrabble

I love you more than ever babe! (that one's sure been used alot)
Your my honey and so funny and really smokin' hot
You've always liked my poetry, so there's one for you
Happy Birthday Honey Bug!.... Love, yours true.
