so hard to be little

One of Sam's latest phrases is "It's been a hawd day!" after a dramatic sigh. It really has been a tough week for Sammo. He caught a pretty nasty cold. This is his second one this year but this particular bug was just not a nice one. He was so lethargic and would cough uncontrollably in between moans. I felt so bad for the kid. Today He was really feeling well. He had an abundance of energy. He was still a little drippy and such, but on the mend. Well until this evening, I was cooking dinner and Sam was coloring at the table. He knows very well that he can only sit on his bottom when on a chair and today, he found out why... with skid marks on his face to prove it. I have never seen him biff it that hard. He just face planted into the cabinet and onto the floor. I am so surprised we didn't have to take him to the emergency room I'm so glad that he only ended up with a bloody lip and a scuffed face. Poor little guy.

milestones

Here is a pregnancy pic of me, officially at 20 weeks. I'm feeling really great! No nausea, and no complications thus far. I am feeling her move pretty frequently, which I love! Steve was able to feel her the other day. I do get pretty intense headaches every night and I seem to be more emotional I guess that's the extra estrogen. I don't have the horribly stinky feet I had with Sam though so thats good.

I'm a big kid now!
Sam is officially potty trained. He did amazingly well. It took about 1 full month but he has been going #1 successfully for about 3 weeks. Going #2 scared him to death for some reason or another. Then one day.... he just pooped! We were so proud of his and he was so proud of himself. He was dancing around and he finally got his prize that had been sitting at the top of our bookshelf for weeks. He asks to go, all the time and never has accidents GO SAM!

Sammy says

Some Funny Things out of the mouth of Sam........
"Mama, I need some salve, My yips are twapped" (lips are trapped (chapped))
"When I was bigger, I used to pway football in dah mud yike daddy"
As we were pulling up to Old Navy he said, "Mom, I don't like Old Lady"
Sam: "Dad, your not my Daddy."
Dad: I'm not, who is your Dady then?"
Sam: "A man"
Dad: "Where does he live?"
Sam: "Fah away"
Dad: "What's his name?"
Sam: long pause.... "Uncle Funk!"
So a scenario set-up.... I was putting Sam to bed which usually includes a story and a few songs. I had just finished singing "A childs Prayer" which talks alot about Heavenly Father. He stopped me mid sentence and said, "Mama, who is Heavnee Fahder?" I decided to have a little teaching moment and described as best I could that Heavenly Father was his daddy when he lived in heaven, then he came to earth and now he has a daddy on earth. I told him that when I lived in heaven, Heavenly Father was my Daddy too, Then I came to earth too. I tried to talk in plain terms and was using my best soft mommy voice. Then he responded, mimicking my tone saying, "When I yived in Heaven, I came to earhf on a space ship."

What's in a name??????

Now that we know that this baby is a girl... I have all these names dancing around in my head. I as initially set on Ruby. Which I still love but I have 2 close personal aquaintances who are also pregnant and also using Ruby and I am hearing it more and more. I don't know why that taints it for me. My other dillema is The "S" name issue. There are actually alot of "S" names I am quite fond of and there is a good chance with this recent news of having a baby girl we really might be done at 2. if that is the case I want to do an "s" name for sure. If we end up having more than 2, I really don't want to be a family of snake sounds.
I am probably just being silly about it, but I think a kids name is a big deal. So If we go with an "S name she will be Sophie, if we don't she will be Ruby. (I think.... but 9 months is a long time)

change of plans

So we had a little surprise today, turns out this baby of ours is a GIRL! We had a an ultra-sound at the doctors office and I guess they have a bit more training than the mall. The technician asked us if we knew the sex of the baby. We told her that we were told it was a boy, to which she got a big grin.... I said "What.... Is it a girl? Were they wrong?" We got some really good evidence in the pictures.
Steve is a little bummed out. We both thought initialy we were having a girl and he was excited but he started to get visions of a Taylor man sports dynasty. I honestly wasn't all that convinced this baby was a boy to begin with. I felt a little silly saying it, but the pictures weren't conclusive, and I have just felt so different this time around. So a bit of a surprise but I'm glad it wasn't the other way around. I'm sure I would have gone out and bought several girl outfits but we already had everything for a boy. ANYWAY! what a surprise!

Happy Birthday to Sam

Sam Turned 3 today!!!
We had a little shindig for him at our house with a cars theme. He was so pumped all day to have "birtday cake" and to have his friends come over. We didn't have the party til evening so that was a long day for a little guy to endure. He started the day waking up and asking me "is it my birtday? I told him it sure was and then he said, "are my presents under the tree?" (he is still mourning the end of Christmas) I took him to Target and let him pick one toy for his birthday. He picked a Thomas the Train bath toy. When we got home, he came into the kitchen where I was, toy in hand and said, "Mom, dis is da best pwesent you nevah bought me."
We also gave him a Thomas the Train pop-up tent. It was so HUGE! it is very bendy so it works, but he loved it. He is sleeping in it tonight.
Sam and his best friend Jackson. He did so well with giving Sam a Batman action figure he really would have loved to keep for himself.

He was actually not excited to blow out his candes becuase he wanted to get back to playing with his new train that Uncle Greg gave him.

Race track Cake I made. The road is mini chocolate chips, wich worked pretty well, although that was my plan B. Apparently, no one sells black licorice anymore.

Ben, Amy and Jackson playing the only "game" The unlucky target at the end was a "Cars" poster.
Nerf Gun Dad picked out.... Okay so this thing is this huge rifle that clearly states "10 and up" on the box. Perhaps a little present for dad.... Sam really did have a blast telling him which targets to hit around the house including "Shoot me in da head Dad!"

I think the party was a success. We didn't have any meltdowns and the cake wasn't burned or anything, and Amy didn't go into labor in the middle of it. With his birthday so close to Christmas he is a little overflowing in the toy bounty. It should last him till next year

8 year anniversary

So Steve and I met on new years eve 2000. We had our first date the next day. I can't believe we have been together that long. I was 16 and he was 18 and we met at Provo's first night. (at club Omni to be exact) Steve had just finished ringing in the new year by running around the streets with his buddies in his whitey tighteys and a snow hat for a little warmth :)I was there with some friends including my on again off again boyfriend at the time. he got up the courage to come talk to me and I got up the courage to offer up my phone number and he called me the next day... (well technically the same day seeing as I met him after midnight)

Our first date was friendly and anything but awkward, we talked and talked and talked. Our second date was a little different, a little more friendly and a little less talking. I met him about a week before he got his mission call so we didn't date very long before he left. but it didn't take us long to fall for eachother.
This picture is of Sweather Swing, We also went to Prom before he left. We were both a still a little baby faced and a few pounds thinner..... nice braces huh.

Now 8 years later, it's crazy how much has changed. although some things are the same, we still have the best conversations and he still a good kisser.
