Life continues to move at such a quick pace. Before I've had time to catch my breath I find that Summer is over and my little Sammo is going into second grade. He is getting over his jitters and nerovousness and is playing hard core with friends all day. I'm so happy for him that he seems to be gaining more confidence and is allowing his little comfortable world to be much bigger.

His teacher seems fantastic! She seems to be so involved and invested. One of her assignments was for each child to bring his/her favorite book to put on a bookshelf and let the other kids in the class read it. He chose to bring Matilda. When I was putting him to bed last night, I could sense there was something wrong. I knew he was fretting about something. When he does that, It's hard for him to talk about what he's thinking about without crying. He started to tell me as he was holding back the tears. He said, "Mrs Grandstaff said we had to bring our favorite book and my favorite book is Matilda, but then she told us we have to read it outloud in front of the whole class, and my book is 250 pages, that's going to take all day!" His little logical, rule following brain cracks me up sometimes. I let him know it was totally ok to bring a second favorite book.
Today, Sam even rode his bike to school by himself for the first time.
